Tyndaris

396 BC     Tyndaris founded by Dionysios of Syracausa (for exiles expelled by Sparta 
           following the Peloponnesian War). The city is named after Tyndarios, 
           father of the Dioskouroi.
269 BC     Alliance with Hieron II of Syracusa against the Mamertines.
257 BC     Naval battle near Tyndaris (Mylai) between Rome and Carthago
Roman time Tyndaris becomes civitas decumana and one of the 17 privileged cities of 
           Sicily. The city maintained for a long time its economical prosperity.
